The most radical motors in racing are 'injected', but because real constant flow injectors are not designed for part throttle operation, most rodders because of costs or technical and drivability difficulties either have to go to an expensive efi (electronic fuel injection) system or are limited to a 4bbl carburetor and aftermarket intake manifold. This has left the serious owner of a four barrel engine with no authentic alternative intake look other than an air cleaner or blower type scoop. Solution.....Street Induction! The 'wild injected look' without the associated problems and costs of running a real injector and now with larger 2 9/16" tubes and Ram Tops giving a fuller look so the choices are all yours (some pictures on this page are 2 1/2" tubes).
Identifiable and absolutely unmatched in quality the IN600 Street Induction is directed toward the serious Rodder seeking the responsiveness of a four barrel engine while at the same time wishing to pursue a relatively inexpensive method of providing a full race look to their street car or boat. Polished body 'surface brush finish' anodized tubes and anodized 'Ram Tops' protect and complete

IN600 Garlits StreetInduction
Because the Street Induction mounting is designed primarily around the carburetor and into the intake manifold by way of the carburetor mounting holes it's universal application is not limited by the style of manifold and engine brand. The Street Induction is designed to be as universal as possible and could be fitted to almost any four barrel V8 Carb/intake manifold setup whether it be a Chevy, Ford, Chrysler, Pontiac, Olds, AMC, Holden or you name it!. The lower area of the base is shaped to blend nicely into just about any manifold and can be almost indistinguishable when used on a polished manifold and surrounded by the valve covers, plug leads, hoses, fuel lines etc. The IN600 Street Induction adapter plate is secured to the manifold, (not the carb), by two 'through studs' that pass down through the Street Induction adapter and on down into two of the carburetor base mounting holes, thus locating the IN600 STREETINDUCTION inline with the engine and providing attachment to the engine.

EDELBROCK PERFORMER 1400 and AVS 1800/0 Series and CARTER AFB CARBURETORS
The IN600 Street Induction can be ordered to fit the standard #1400 part number series Squarebore Edelbrock Performer carburetors, along with the Carter AFB (5 1/8" neck) Comp series Carburetors which is what the Edelbrock Performer carburetors are based on. Also the 1800 Thunder series carburetors with slight clearance modifications to the IN600 adapter plate.

Intake Manifold Considerations
INTAKE MANIFOLD CARBURETOR PAD HEIGHTS
The IN600 Street Induction can be fitted to manifolds with carb 'mounting pad' heights up to around 5" 1/2: with a 2" tall filter element. With the 2 1/2" high air filter element 'as shipped' a 5" 'carb pad height' can be acheived. They come with all mounting hardware, full instructions and will accept different height K&N replacement air filter elements. More Info Click Here.
IN600 IN THE RAIN
The IN600 Street Induction has large round (1 1/4") holes in the main body at the bottom of the two front and two rear tubes to allow air from outside, if you were in the rain some rain would go down the front and rear tubes and land on the air filter element at these points, air can also enter inside the main body also. The center four tubes have drain channels in the bottom of the tube adapters so any rain can just run out, there are no holes here because they are above the filter and carburetor, so basically it would actually be better than running a normal air cleaner in rain because most of the air filter element is sheilded from the rain. A little rain wont bother the unit and if you were running a K&N filter element it wont bother the element at all.

IN600 Installed Height Measurements
CALCULATING/MEASURING IN600STREETINDUCTION INSTALLED HEIGHT
The best way to give you an idea is, if you went to your carburetor mounting studs that hold your carburetor to the intake manifold and then, at carb mounting surface height (Carb Pad) measure outward from the stud (out across the engine toward the valve cover, ie imagine 'the from fender to fender way' ) about an 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" from the center of your carb mounting bolt, then drop an imaginery plumb line down to the top of the intake manifold port runner in that vicinity, and then make a mark here. This is where the overall height figures would pretty much be taken from, it is from this point that you can measure the distance up to or through your hood to give you an idea of the height of the unit above your particular engine when mounted. For example an even tube IN600 as supplied would be 19" above this point and a staggered IN600 would be 20 1/2" above this point.
Now if the tubes were cut down so the IN600's overall height was made as low as it could 'easily' be made its overall height from this point would be around 16"
You can carry on and go shorter than 16" by useing staggered tube lengths, probably to around 15", but the absolute Shortest the IN600 can ever be made is with even tubes and is 14 5/8" (requires careful trimming of ram tube tops where they converge as the tubes are lowered)
The above way of measuring things up is the most accurate way of figuring the installed height when there might be a height restriction or a hood or whatever in the way.
You should be able to get a get a pretty accurate measurement doing it this way
SHIPPED WITH A 2 1/2" HIGH AIR FILTER ELEMENT
You can change air fiter element heights inside the IN600 when installing, you can go to a lower 2" filter element if your intake manifold carb pad is a up around the 5 1/2", or even a taller 3" element which can be more desirable in larger engines but you will need a manifold lower carb pad height of around 4 1/2" or below, this option can also be used in the installation to compensate for different carb pad heights on the many different manifolds but REMEMBER AIR FILTER HEIGHT DIFFERENCES WILL NOT CHANGE THE actual OVERALL HEIGHT OF UNIT.
HEIGHT OF IN600 ABOVE CARBURETOR NECK
Below is the height of the unit above the carburetor neck (where an air filter would normally sit on) with a 2 1/2" filter installed (as shipped). This measurement is not necessarily the height that you can determine for the finished installation through the hood because in some installations you may have to put a spacer under the carburetor to raise it during the installation if your manifold has a low carburetor pad height. Measuring IN600 installed height 'section above' is better for determining finished installed height

MEASURING FROM CENTER OF CARB TO FRONT AND BACK
When the StreetInduction is mounted onto the carburetor
The basic measurement from the center of the carburetor to the front of the base is approximately 7".
The basic measurement from the center of the carburetor to the back of the base is approximately 8".
These measurements are taken at the lower part of the StreetInduction base area.
THE TUBES ARE:
2 9/16" Diameter Aluminum
Long tubes 7 5/8"
Short tubes 5 7/8"
* Shortest that tubes could physically be cut to 3"
With the ram tube tops on they are
Long tubes 10"
Short tubes 8 1/2"
Tubes then insert into induction body 1", so their effective length sticking out, with the ram tube tops, is 9 3/4" for the long tube, and 7 1/2" for the short tube.
STAGGERED OR EVEN TUBE ARRANGEMENT
The tube lengths as supplied with the StreetInduction are 4 long and 4 short, If you want to run an even system you just cut the 4 long ones down to the same length as the short ones.
If you have already decided that you want to run an 'even tube' setup let me know and I will ship it this way so you don't have to do the cutting.
If you are undecided, you can leave the unit to be shipped with the 4 longs and 4 shorts and then when you get it you can put the 4 short tubes in the front and have a look and see if you like it like that.
The ram tube tops just slip on nicely so you can play around with the desired height and once you have decided on finished height, you then use clear silicone to fix them permanently to the tubes.
Don't forget to spend the time to carefully wipe the tubes clean from excess silicone and finally use a solvent to fully finish clean things up.
